Asymptotic methods, mechanics and other applications

ENS Rennes
Workshop of the Macadam ANR project
This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from computational mechanics and mathematics around asymptotic methods.
In various physical situations, we consider objects involving a multiscale geometry. A microscopic description is required together with the macroscopic design : it is the case with bubbles of gas in a melted material, or imperfections inside concrete. We are mainly interested in the mechanical or electromagnetic properties of this kind of material. From a numerical point of view, it is difficult to cope with the different scales. The workshop will give opportunity to present some recent applications of asymptotic methods in various fields.
